Racketball County Closed Championships 2010 - Andy Davies Crowned Champion
Thursday, 11 February 2010

Shropshire does not have a County Racketball Champion!.... It’s time to decide

SHREWSBURY SQUASH AND RACKETBALL CLUB are proud to report that the Inaugural County Closed Racketball Championship was a huge success with an impressive entry list of 30 players. The Competition was extremely closely contested and some excellent racketball played by all in a spirit of enjoyment and great sportsmanship. The semi-finals were closely contested by Richard Buffery [Shrewsbury Schools], Andy Davies [Shrewsbury S+RC], Brian Jones [Shrewsbury S+R C] and Simon Pierpoint {Brookside, Oswestry]. The eventual and worthy winner was Andy Davies who played as if fitted with Duracell batteries whilst wearing down Simon Pierpoint in the final. The County has agreed to run the Competition again next year. A spokesman for the Shrewsbury Squash and Racketball Club, who provided and presented the Winners Perpetual Cup, said that they were delighted to host the Competition and that the whole weekend was afitting curtain raiser for an upcoming Open Day at the club on Saturday 27th February starting at 10.00am.
